The Reem Acra bridal collection is always a highlight of New York Bridal Fashion Week. As we waited for the runway presentation to begin at New York Bridal Fashion Week, the anticipation of retailers, magazine editors and fashion bloggers alike could be felt throughout the room. Everyone was eager to see the latest creations of this world renowned designer come down the catwalk!
Reem as always, did not disappoint as one breathtaking wedding dress after another left everyone inspired and eager to show them off to their brides all over the world! Thankfully, we had photographer Collin Pierson of Collin Pierson Photography with us to capture each and every gown just as it came down the runway to share with you!
Here is part I of our blog on the Reem Acra Spring 2017 bridal collection!
The first bridal gown was an off the shoulder sheath with sparkling embroidery and the most perfect lace up back we have ever seen! Style points: She has a corset fit bodice to shape the bride’s body beautifully and cinch in the waist. The sheath skirt skims the hip lightly for a soft silhouette showing off the bride’s figure, yet moving with every step she makes. We love the combination of a fitted bodice and a whimsical skirt…and that back is as remarkably beautiful as it is unexpected!
The next lovely featured a sheer corset bodice that gave way to a soft A line skirt. Style points: The details of this dress are truly dreamy…delicate laces layered upon each other for a beautiful dimensional effect. While the silhouette is an A Line, lace tendrils drip down from the bodice, restraining the volume of the skirt so that it never overwhelms the bride and instead has a lengthening effect. Underneath the top layer of tulle, there is a layer of very subtle sparkle – just enough to set off the lace work beautifully and ensure the bride will be the centerpiece of her wedding!
For the princess bride, Reem Acra has designed a timeless confection. Style points: The designer’s signature corset bodice is covered in embroidered lace and features a high sweetheart neckline that is uniquely demure. The princess A Line skirt features tulle layers finished with extra wide horsehair, providing just enough weight to restrain the frothiness of the skirt. Breathtaking is an understatement when describing the impact this wedding gown had coming down the aisle!
What we adore most about this dress is the train. The Reem Acra statement for the season can be found in this incredibly long train, which was created to be pulled up and over the bride’s face for a mantilla veil effect that is unimaginable! The designer added lace appliques along the horsehair of the train to tie the look into the gown perfectly. When asked about bustling such a long train, Ms. Acra replied, “You must cut it off after the ceremony!” as if this were the most obvious thing in the world. We had to admit her daring and innovation is what makes her so important to fashion – a true artist. Ultimately, the subtle creativity hidden in this wedding gown is what makes the dress incredibly special!
There is nothing we love more than offering our brides options…we love to “say yes” to all of our brides’ dress dreams! You can imagine our delight when we realized this next gown would allow us to give our brides the sun, moon, and stars!
Style points: going down the aisle, this bridal gown has a billowing organza overskirt which is undetectable – the skirt’s lace tendrils blend in beautifully with the bodice of the more fitted alencon wedding dress hiding underneath. When the bride is ready, she can remove the overskirt and dance the night away in her gorgeous lace sheath – which is effortless, chic, and still very bridal. The cap sleeves on the bridal gown are also removable – and can be taken off whenever the bride decides she wants to show off her shoulders (or raise the roof as it were)…sun-check, moon-check, AND stars-check!
Featuring white on white linear artwork, the next bridal gown is a modern take on the princess bride. The sparkling sequins have a spun sugar effect, adding just enough sweetness to this contemporary design. We love the sheer illusion sleeves to the elbow and the high scoop neckline – modest wedding dresses have become so uncommon that they now have the greatest impact coming down the aisle! This minimalist design is uber chic yet still very feminine and classic!
