The American bridal market has experienced exciting changes over the last few years – social media has introduced a whole new world of designer options to U.S. brides, the most notable of which has been the Israeli design movement. With the entry of Israeli designers in the US market a bridal renaissance took place and everyone was the better for it…their sexier, glamorous collections challenged the traditional boundaries of the American bridal aesthetic and pushed every designer to incorporate new elements in their collections.
But just as with any new wave in fashion, the Israeli design movement is no longer a novelty, and 2017 seems to be ushering in a new wave of international designers – this time from the land down under…Australia! Designers such as Steven Khalil, Pallas Couture, Leah Da Gloria, and Nektaria World started to capture the American bride’s attention in social media over the last two years, and are now beginning to arrive in U.S. bridal salons. Just as the Israelis, they are redefining existing notions of bridal beauty with their unique silhouettes, signature fabrics and laces, and innovative draping.
When we first met with designer Pallas Couture in the Fall of 2014 during New York International Bridal Week, it was clear that this collection was unlike any other. Their choices both of the fabrics themselves, as well as how to use them in the bridal collection were completely unique – like nothing we had ever seen before and undeniably beautiful. We knew right away they were special, and our relationship built from that first meeting, until by the Spring of 2016 the timing felt right to bring the first Australian bridal collection to midwestern brides!
What is instantly obvious when you first look at the Pallas Couture collection, is that the gowns are rich in dimensional fabrics, which are layered for a final effect that is completely unique to each gown in the collection. What is unexpected is that these gowns are light as air and weigh next to nothing on! Their signature aesthetic is an ethereal sex appeal – or “soft sexy” as we like to say.
